Today, I saw a 13 year old girl that looked older than me. She was tall for her age yes but she had on more make-up than me and an outfit I wouldn’t even think of wearing until I was at least 18. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been seeing a lot of that. Young girls that posses a maturity about them that I didn’t have or see when I was that age. Why does it seem like young girls are in such a rush to grow up? To look older & dress sexy. Or to know what it’s like to go to clubs and party. I was still terrified to even look a boy in the eye when I was 13 haha. I’m still not that comfortable talking to boys to be completely honest but lets keep that between us hahaha. I just feel like young girls are so pressured to hurry up and grow up. I don’t know if it’s what the media feeds us that caused this affect, but I just know it was much different when I was growing up. When I was 13 I was watching “Boy Meets World” and “Saved By The Bell.” Today teens are watching shows like “The Hills” and “Gossip Girl.” Not to bash either of those shows, they’re entertaining, but they definitely influence the younger generation whether they’re meant to or not. The purpose of this blog isn’t to attack the media. It’s to remind the younger generation to embrace being young. Embrace not having to wear make-up and do your hair perfectly. Girls enjoy having silly and fun nights with your girlfriends and not worrying about boys. Boys enjoy playing video games and sports and getting dirty with your boys and not worrying about us girls. Embrace eating whatever you want and not worrying about how thin you are or aren’t. Embrace not worrying about the pressures of what society and the media says you should be or look like because I promise it will be there waiting for you even when you’re older haha. No but on a serious note…your innocence is precious. And your youth is something to celebrate! Don’t try to speed up the process. It goes much faster once you’re older so let it last and let it linger. And being an adult is great too, when it’s your time to be one. Until then…embrace your youth!

If you guys didn’t know, this passed weekend BG5 performed at this concert called POPCON in Uniondale, New York. Selena Gomez & the Scene and Justin Bieber were the headliners! It was an amazing experience! We had a great response from everyone. We also were able to meet a lot of our fans at the meet & greet. That was so cool. I love meeting fans. You guys are always so sweet. POPCON was at the Nassau Coliseum. It’s a really big arena and the last time I performed at the Nassau Coliseum was when I was dancing for Miley. To go back there and perform as an actual artist was awesome! Who knew when I was dancing for Miley there, that I would come back and perform there as an artist 2 years later! Anywho.. After we performed and signed, we stayed to watch Justin Bieber. We are friends with all of his dancers! I had no idea some of my friends were dancing for him, so that was a nice surprise! Let me just say that Justin Bieber is one talented kid! He sang live, danced, played guitar and drums! One day BG5 will be as big as J Biebs! hehe

Alright, hope everyone has a great week! Love you all.

xo Mandy

After having the chance thru my career to travel i have been to a variety of different places; Egypt, thailand, hong kong, kuala lumpur, china, Japan, hawaii just to name a few, however just recently i was home in Sydney Australia. I have to say out of everywhere i have been so far, Sydneys fashion is on the money! I always look to Australian designers for inspiration on what to wear because of course thats my stomping grounds. It was summer there so everyone was in the look of the wahine, free spirit and i absolutely loved it!
Although it isnt summer yet here in the States, the designers i’m about to list will give you some great ideas for the summer coming up and what to wear and how to style yourself:

1. Sass & Bide 2010 summer
2. Tigerlily Swimwear
3. Surf Luxe- “The Farm” Collection
4. Lover

Hopefully You can draw some inspiration from some of these designers. The key to creating a great fashionable look is to see whats out there, pick out what you like and try to resemble that with your own individual flavor.

Picks of the Week:

In 2003, I read THE RULES by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider, a book I highly suggest for all young women (and men so you can learn how to act! lol). Although I don’t follow Rule #32 (see below*) to the T, that book was such an eye opener to my value, and what a waste of time it is going after guys. Remember, Rule #1: “You are a creature unlike any other.” When I started to believe this, a lot of things got clear. See, we girls tend to set our “targets” and then push and toil to get the guy, not ever living in the reality of whether or not it’s gunna happen from his end. The truth is that if he didn’t approach you first, initiate the date, or just call you vs. calling you back, you don’t really know if he’d be into you if you weren’t conveniently hanging around. (READ THAT LAST SENTENCE 3 MORE TIMES. Seriously.) Someone who’s really excited about you makes the effort, and you want a guy who’s really excited about you right?

Most people are somewhat considerate and their actions stem from reciprocation or even guilty obligation, so you never know unless you give them the space to sack up. That’s the difference between a man that loves you or is in love with you – and personally, the former without the latter isn’t a desirable romantic relationship. Guys who love you as a person get you office supplies for your birthday ’cause it’s practical. Guys who are IN LOVE with you get you flowers or sweet nothings just cause it’s Tuesday. See the difference?

***I’m not into playing games but I am into men being the male role in the area of courting.

That’s the part that sucks…

…cause seriously, “if I like you then I like you.” (and if you didn’t get that reference then you betta leave this page right NOW and download “Money Grubbin’” from iTunes. BTDubbs, who got the Lady Gaga reference with my blog title?) Ok wait. Re-focus… what I mean is it’s freakin’ hard to get over that rejected feeling if the one you set your sights on isn’t crazy about you.

Look, males are pretty easy. If they like you, they sure act like it. If they don’t, they don’t. Simple, not easy (as is life). Oh, and if they like you but are “too afraid to show it,” do you really want to spend your time with a guy that you’re going to constantly have to coach throughout the relationship? Give men the space to grow. That’s part of our duty as women.

You are a creature like any other! Believe it. Any guy who gets to have your heart should know how lucky he is to be chosen by a gem like you, and if he doesn’t, you simply say, “NEXT!”

xo!
Noreen

P.S. A little back story on me: Guys didn’t like me “like that” in high-school. Ever. I had one boyfriend, for like 2 months Junior Year. Nowadays it’s a different story I didn’t get it together until like 2004, lol, and it’s still a work in progress but I’m glad I learned these things sooner than later. You’re allowed to know how amazing you are! But please, always stay humble.

P.P.S *Rule #32: Don’t Break The Rules.

Chuy Bravo, star of the E! channel’s Chelsea Lately show, has launched the Chuy Bravo Little Nugget Foundation in order to offer drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatments and facilities for those in financial need. The TV personality recently hosted a Hollywood party to celebrate the launch, featuring a live performance by Beach Girl5 and sponsored by Joico and Reality Cares.

Held at Hollywood’s My Studio, a unique facility that produces customized DVDs, the soiree was hosted by comedian and Leno regular Ross Matthews, and guests included actor and comedian Kevin Nealon, Dr. Drew, Stephanie Pratt of The Hills, former Miss USA Chrystle Stewart, Prison Break’s Camille Guaty and 2012 and Eastwick star Johann Urb. Foundation Vice President Tammy McCann reports that the V.I.P. gifts donated by Joico—the iconic Joico K-PAK Shampoo, Conditioner and Deep Penetrating Reconstructor trio—were the hit of the event! “The girls loved them, the guys loved them,” McCann reveals.

According to McCann, the first venture for the foundation will be to build a rehab center in Bravo’s hometown of Michoacán, Mexico. “It’s an area with a serious problem,” explains McCann. “The drugs are even in the elementary schools and the 11- and 12-year-old girls are turning to prostitution to pay for them. We’ve selected a beautiful spot for the center, and we’re working with the architects now. We’re hoping to help a lot of people and Joico has truly been instrumental in making it all possible.”

Hey guys!

Hope everyone has had a great week! So…right now is definitely an interesting time for me and the girls. We have so many business deals being worked out and so much is going on around us that we can’t see so it feels like things are moving slowly. When really, things are moving quite fast under the circumstances. I’m so grateful for all the girls of BG5. Not only because of who they are as people but because of the perseverance we all have. People on the outside looking in, don’t realize how much faith, focus and perseverance you must have to do what we do. And we all have it! We all keep each other lifted up when things seem low and we keep each other strong. And I just really appreciate each one of my girls!

We have a lot of spare time on our hands at the moment so I’ve been trying to think of things I can do to keep myself busy in the meantime haha. Dance classes, renting a room at a soundstage and singing all my favorite songs on my ipod, trying new exercise classes, things that are fun and cheap! Last night Noreen introduced me to this great spot she goes to on Thursday nights to enjoy live music. I was all out of fun ideas for the day so I was happy to go. The music was AMAZING. The singer, the drummer and the guitarist were phenomenal and the crazy thing is, they don’t even practice before they play they just sort of freestyle and jam. They were playing old songs like Michael Jacksons “Rock With You” and “Candy Rain” by Soul For Real. And new songs by John Mayer and Musiq Soulchild. The atmosphere of the room was incredible. It was candlelit and you could tell everyone there had a deep love for music. By the end of the night we were all dancing in the middle of the restaurant and just having a great time. That night made me appreciate music even more than I already do. I listen to music everyday on my ipod, in my car, or on my computer. But nothing really compares to LIVE, intimate, soulful music. The feeling I was getting while just sitting there listening and watching was so fulfilling. It’s amazing the impact music can have on you when you just sit and listen. I’m so grateful that music moves me the way it does. I love it! I’m definitely going back the next time they’re playing!

Music & Love
Dominique

P.S. I just discovered this new Hawaiian artist when I was just looking around on itunes. Her name is Anuhea and she’s great. All her songs have a beach/rasta vibe to them and her voice is so smooth. My favorite songs from her album are “Here I Go Again,” “Big Deal,” and “Just Want You Around.” Check her out if you want!

Hey!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday! I’m just about to be completely settled in my new place. What a hassle moving is! Remind me to not do that again for a very long time. It is fun to decorate a new place though. I’m such a girl.
I wanted to use this blog to tell you about something very close to my heart. As most of you know, I am really passionate about animals and I try to keep updated on what I can do to make their lives better. I was shocked to find out how many companies still use animal testing for their products. It’s such a warped point of view to think that we have the right to abuse or kill helpless animals, especially when scientists have developed sophisticated product tests that are faster, cheaper, and far more accurate.

Here is the link to the list of companies that DO test on animals:

And this is the link to the list of companies that DO NOT test on animals:
http://search.caringconsumer.com/search_list_icons.aspx?Donottest=8&Product=0&Dotest=-1

So please take a minute and go through these lists. Animals can’t talk, so we need to be their voice. Even the smallest change, like switching to a toothpaste that doesn’t practice animal testing, can really make a difference.

And that’s all I got! I hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing my girls tomorrow to sing and possibly do a new youtube video. So stay tuned!!

Do really talented people intimidate you? Me too. Seriously. Not all the time. But it happens, even for me, Ms. Positive Patty. I’ll explain, keep reading… I’ve spent the past month purposely putting myself around a load of people who are “more talented than me.” And I say “more talented than me” in quotation marks because that statement alone is so untrue and crazy that it would need it’s own series of blogs to bring the truth to light. It’s been my intention (yes, another one of my 2010 resolutions) to seek out great live music this year. Recently, I’ve become friends with a handful of those ones who have inspired me on my journey. I gotta be honest, they are so good at what they do, I can feel my insecurities rise when I’m around them. (But I think it’s just case I want to be great, so when I see greatness I gotta have it!) When you see people you admire do you end up feeling like, “I wish I could do that,” “Man, you’re so talented…”? Notice you say: You’re so talented – period – with no space to acknowledge the talent in yourself. I wanted to share this with you because, I know some of you out there have gotta feel this way too.

I want you to know that even as far as I’ve come on my journey, I still get these feelings and from what I hear from older adults, this fear never goes away. So I figure, as long as life is going to keep throwing us into new situations where we will feel insecure, we might as well start teaching ourselves how to deal with it, NOW. How do I deal with it? I just remember that there is only one me, and there is a purpose for my life in this world that no one else can fill. I don’t know everything that I will do in the future, but I do know that no matter what, all the gifts I have to offer are special. Greatness is universal. Your greatness is unique. We are all unique beings playing in the world, that have never been here before in this way, and never will be again. This is what I constantly remind myself, especially in times that I feel intimidated by another’s talent and greatness. I recognize that I too am great and have something to offer that no one else can. Instead of felling “less-than” I praise and acknowledge their awesomeness. Remember: If you can see it and appreciate it, you can have it for yourself too!

There is something special that you and only you bring to this world. Do you know what it is? And if not yet, will you go on the path to discovering and creating it?

Till next time…

xo,
Noreen

P.S. The blog title totally doesn’t make sense. Ha. It’s a quote from the movie “Anchorman,” and it’s just really fun to say, that’s all!
