This weekend Memorial day weekend, I learned a lot more about America “Land of the free and home of the Brave”. Traveling a long way out of Los Angeles made me feel like i could breathe easier, the air was brisk on the tips of our ears, as we traveled along the 101 coast side with the never ending pacific to our left and the hilly mountains to our right, we had packed the truck and were headed towards the sunset.

I love the outdoors, the land that we live on should be appreciated more..like its our own backyard…
it gives oxygen through the trees, blesses us with glistening night stars and wakes us up in the morning till we chase its rays to dusk, my favourite time of the day.

To continue with my adventures…. I saw little frogs, hiked through mountainous peaks to waterfalls that me and my friends climbed and jumped off 25ft rocks into forest made pools, that we’re like a freezing ice cold bath but we all did it and completly pushed the boundaries of our nerves. The trip in the wilderness made me feel like i was home in Aussie bushland, we sat by bonfires at night, made every meal from absolute scratch (which helped me learn a thing or 2 ;) . I tried real American smores, and was taught by friends
some American history that they quizzed me on the next day… things i had never learnt at school :) .

Staying in the middle of nowhere, digging a hole to go potty, dealing with not showering for 3days, playing movie quiz games to keep us occupied and washing our toes with wet ones, was a royal blast… i loved being able to escape from the big city, and in California its fun there’s many things to explore, right around the corner!

I took many photos but I’m gonna share with you: chasing the sun, trees with personality,
a sweet inspired breakfast for the dudes, the campfire (look into the flames) and of course Smokey “Only YOU can prevent wildfires!” (learned about him on the trip too) and one of my favs our V Tree.
And as Christopher Columbus one said “Following the light of the sun, we left the Old World.” ……..was exactly how we did it.

Song of the week: “How you like me now?” – The Heavy

Apr

I want to start by saying some vital stuff i always say along the way; one you are fabulous!!, two always be able to laugh at yourself and three always Dream!!!

Something you need to know about me is that I absolutely love Fashion and am up almost every night on the internet late, before i got to bed. A lot of the time finding myself on websites that have something to do with Fashion and Lifestyle. I end up on these sites; where i pretend i have a million bucks and put things in the shopping cart….hahaha.. like im going to buy it. I find this super enjoyable because i believe Fashion and style is an extension of your personality and it allows me to DREAM!

Dreaming is always important like the natives of my country, aboriginals “Dreaming” is their BIBLE, its part of a tribe and individuals beliefs and spirituality. Creation came from “The Dreaming”; how the sea became so blue, how the rosella birds got their pretty colors even down to why we as individuals were put on this earth.
Anyway my point is that you always need to dream and whatever you have a passion in like mine=fashion you need to make sure you never lose it and always find a way to have it in your life!

At the moment i’m absolutely loving these looks from Wildfox…Do you agree?

Enjoy ;)

p.s one of my favourite Coco Chanel quotes:
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Gday all :)
The turning of Seasons is the turning of time. It’s warmer now in California and I’m absolutely loving it, April is here can you believe it! 2010 is going so fast. Are you working towards your goals?…Have you achieved one of your New Years Resolutions yet?

The best way to stay inspired with yourself is to stay Motivated, keep your goals in sight. A good way that helps me to stay inspired is to write out your goals, short term and long term every single day so that you keep yourself aware of what you are reaching for.
I have many different goals that i wish to achieve and yes it is about conquering them one day at a time, step by step! Firstly you need to ask yourself are you working hard on your own to achieve your goals? It’s easy to make excuses or even blame someone else.

Remember that YOU are the only one that can make YOUR dreams come true. It all comes down to the hard work, perseverance and belief you have in yourself to accomplish anything you set your mind to. Yes you better bloody believe it, it comes down to YOU!

A good Start is on the way you look…because the way you act and feel all comes from your physical body and how comfortable you feel in your own skin. You need to love yourself! This sounds funny but thats what you need to do, you are beautiful and you are fabulous so LOVE YOURSELF.
A tip to this is to be FEARLESS about it. A good way to be fearless it to develop your talents as well as find something new that you have never done, maybe it could be a new hobby!!

I recently took up Spin and Yoga Class which i have never ever done before, i ended up throughly enjoying it, it was challenging because firstly i had only been bike riding on a bike that actually moved and Spinning on a stationary bike is very different (you click your shoes into the pedals and everything) and also Yoga where the teacher had me holding poses for soooo long which was really difficult. it was very very different to all the dance training i have had but it made me step out of what i know and become fearless and a tip that i will leave you with is: “You can’t underestimate the confidence that comes from trying something new”
Because when you try something new and then feel great about it, then it will allow you to see how easy it can be, to then conquer your own goals.
So Go get em……!!!

After having the chance thru my career to travel i have been to a variety of different places; Egypt, thailand, hong kong, kuala lumpur, china, Japan, hawaii just to name a few, however just recently i was home in Sydney Australia. I have to say out of everywhere i have been so far, Sydneys fashion is on the money! I always look to Australian designers for inspiration on what to wear because of course thats my stomping grounds. It was summer there so everyone was in the look of the wahine, free spirit and i absolutely loved it!
Although it isnt summer yet here in the States, the designers i’m about to list will give you some great ideas for the summer coming up and what to wear and how to style yourself:

1. Sass & Bide 2010 summer
2. Tigerlily Swimwear
3. Surf Luxe- “The Farm” Collection
4. Lover

Hopefully You can draw some inspiration from some of these designers. The key to creating a great fashionable look is to see whats out there, pick out what you like and try to resemble that with your own individual flavor.

Gday mattie mates! Feeling inspired and rejuvenated today! I want to share with you something that makes me feel me.. and may also help you feel you!! FASHION!
(great task for a rainy day like today in rainy california)

YOUR LOOK:
take a look in the mirror and discover what you feel you represent thru the way you dress.
I take a lot of inspiration for the way i look from many different sources, magazines, catwalk, celebrities or even from art like Lady gaga has done.

From all these sources create a book; a “look-book” for yourself. Cut out, print etc all these different ideas and stick them in a scrapbook from dresses to casual wear to accessories there is soooo much you can rip out and stick in your scrapbook!

Rather then going out and purchasing new things or trying to revamp yourself with money i say just start with what you’ve got!! Look thru your closet and pick out outfits, accessories and re-create some of the images that you have put in your look-book. You can make outfits look brand new without any money!

At the moment I’m a big fan of colors mixing colors as well as patterns together you can do that if you keep it not too crazy and match the colors of your outfits with a mixture of bracelets, earrings and necklaces.
You need to go thru your whole entire closet, yes i mean it the top of your closet too ladies and don’t throw anything away that you think may come back into fashion because it probably will.

TIPS: If a pair of jeans has become outdated or just doesn’t work anymore how about cutting them into shorts for a cute denim short for summer! If a t-shirt is just not cute anymore what about cutting the edges and turning into a tank top even a racerback tank top that then can be thrown on for any occasion with jeans, shorts or a skirt…dress it up with necklaces or dress it down with sweats and wear it to the gym :)
Or if ya want to get really creative and want to then vamp up the tank, get some paint and go to work, you could even create slogans that you stand for like our BG5 saying: LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE. What i just recently did was one of my bead bracelets broke so i sewed the beads on to my tank and it now looks like a $100 racerback tank top.

Another tip is if your completely done with a shirt or t-shirt what about cutting into strips and tying it together to make a cool braided bracelet..bet you never thought of that…then you have a new accessory!
Once you have gone thru your closet I’m sure you have found more then 3 new looks to your old closet pretty cool huh?

These days you can get away with expressing yourself any way you want thru the way you dress…my rules that i will leave you with is:

1. never show to much skin,
2. be yourself in your own rockin style
3. It’s always ok to have too much accessories going on..the more the better..I’m loving big necklaces and a lot of bracelets at the moment!

Hope you enjoyed my fashion tips for today. Rock your look and one day you may even be in your own look-book :)
